Mr. Bayter is a Founding Partner of Axia and has over 20 years of investment banking experience in Latin America and Europe. He has led and executed M&A, capital raising, corporate finance, and project finance transactions for more than USD26.0 billion. Before returning to Colombia, Mr. Bayter was a Director at Citigroup´s Investment Banking division in London. Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Bayter worked at Schroders Investment Bank, where he worked in the Project Finance division developing major infrastructure projects and advising on large privatizations in Latin America. Mr. Bayter worked as General Manager of Schroders Colombia, covering Latin America from 1997 to 2000.
Some of his transactions include advising Morelco´s shareholders on the sale of the company to Graña Montero for USD150 million, the sale of Termoflores for USD430 million, the acquisition of Hemco (Nicaragua) by Mineros for USD113 million, structuring the Oleoducto al Pacífico oil pipeline project (USD5.0 billion), advising a group of financial investors in the acquisition and related financing of Termoyopal for USD133 million.
Whilst at Schroders and Citibank in London Mr. Bayter advised on the Ras Laffan LNG project finance for USD2.0 billion, privatization of the electricity sector in Nicaragua and Guatemala for USD330 million, the sale of four generations plants in Colombia with a combined installed capacity of over 1,750 MW, a USD3.0 billion project finance for Oman’s LNG terminal, and the USD2.0 billion project finance for Petrozuata.
Mr. Bayter received an MBA joint diploma from Cranfield, UK and EM Lyon, France, and a civil engineering degree from Escuela de Ingeniería de Antioquia, Colombia.
