Mr. Acosta is a Vice President of Axia and has over 7 years of experience in investment banking in Colombia and Latin America. He has led and executed M&A, capital raising, corporate finance, and project structuring transactions for more than USD4.5 billion across a broad range of industries. Mr. Acosta has been involved in transactions of electricity, oil and gas, mining, logistics (ports and specialized transport), building materials, financial services, media, real estate and hospitality, pharmaceuticals, retail, and technology sectors.
Some of the transactions on which Mr. Acosta has advised include: the second largest corporate syndicated loan in the Colombian bank market (at the time) for Ocensa´s leverage recapitalization (USD600 million equivalent), a group of financial investors in the the acquisition and related financing of Termoyopal for USD133 million, a USD1.1 billion financing in international and local markets for Ocensa’s expansion, a project finance for the construction of two hydroelectric plants for Proelectrica and a bridge and mezzanine facilities for Pacific Power Generation (Proelectrica’s holding company) for USD64 million combined, structuring the Oleoducto al Pacífico oil pipeline project (USD5.0 billion), and the acquisition of Hemco (Nicaragua) by Mineros for USD113 million.
Mr. Acosta received his masters degree from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia and an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from the same university.
